Health is an expression of adaptability and ease

Every living cell is bound by a semi-permeable membrane, a gate, that bridges what is outside with what is in. We absorb, inhale and digest the environment through our skin, lungs, and digestive tract. We internalize sounds, sights, smells, tastes and touch through our sense organs. In every way, we truly are the world. This means, when there is social and cultural stress and toxicity, it enters us, produces structural and functional effects, and it goes back out. How do we take care of ourselves? How do we handle stress and worry? Is there balance in the body, in digestion? Is there stability in moods and attention?

Health suggests a dynamic, ever-changing balance. Homeostasis means we are in this balance, and it includes our physiology, anatomy, biochemistry, psychology, activity, creativity, and sense of purpose and contentment. Many internal resources are needed for homeostasis to happen, and sometimes, it fails. When that happens, we need help to get back on track. Getting back on track also means every aspect of what is needed for balance needs to be supported. We need a degree of flexibility and strength, good posture, balanced nutrition, and tools for cultivating relaxation and a clear and focused mind.
